The Banff Centre was formally known as the Banff School of Fine Arts, established in 1935 with a grant from the Carnegie Foundation. In the mid 1990's it experienced major cuts to grants but was restructured to include a full conference centre to ensure its long term viability. The Banff Centre is highly regarded in Canada and internationally as an arts, cultural, and educational institution and now conference facility. - Brian Queen
