Send Your Letter of Support to Logan Elm Press!

The Logan Elm Press, combined with the Libraries’ Center for the Book Arts, has suspended operations effective August 1, 2015.

The Ohio State University Library, home of Logan Elm Press states,
"This has been a difficult decision and one that was not taken lightly. We recognize the rich history of the press and value the contribution the press has made to the university and the broader stakeholder community since its inception in 1978. University Libraries simply does not have the resources to continue press operations at this time.

The University Libraries and the College of Arts and Sciences are seeking potential paths forward for the Logan Elm Press (LEP) following the retirement of the former head of press operations in late 2014."

A strong demonstration of support is needed to assist with negotiations regarding the future of the press.

Send Your Letter of Support
Write your accounts, stories, testimonials, etc. of what LEP has meant to you and what it means to the future of the book arts and education. Logan Elm Press has established a Gmail account where you can send your letters of support: loganelmpressdiaries@gmail.com.

Paul Gehl Talk & A New Exhibition at The Robert C. Williams Paper Museum

The Friends of Dard Hunter is proud to be a supporter of The Robert C. Williams Museum of Papermaking, and recently, the museum hosted a great event to coincide with a new exhibition, A Gathering of Continents: A Rare Exhibit of Georgia Tech's Edition of Joan Blaeu's Grooten Atlas.

Dr. Paul Gehl, a distinguished scholar and curator, presented a lecture on March 5th titled Collecting Book and Paper History: An American Tradition.  Dr. Gehl is the George Amos Poole III Curator of Rare Books, and Custodian of the John M. Wing Foundation on the History of Printing at the Newberry Library.

This particular edition is one of the few remaining hand-colored, gold-embossed deluxe editions of the Atlas, bound in Moroccan leather. Original volumes of the Atlas will be on exhibit along with reproductions of select maps from the works.

A Gathering of Continents will be open from February 27 until June 26, 2015.
